For your information, it's useful to know that most of the cPanel-based Hosting offerings on the present-day website hosting marketplace are supplied by a very insubstantial business segment (as far as yearly money flow is concerned) named hosting reseller. Reseller web hosting is a type of a small-sized business segment, which furnishes a big amount of different web hosting brands, yet supplying one and the same solutions: mostly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Due to the fact that at least 98 percent of the website hosting offerings on the entire web hosting marketplace supply one and the same thing: cPanel. There's no difference at all. Even the cPanel Hosting price tags are alike. Very identical. Leaving for those who need a top web hosting service practically no other web hosting platform/hosting Control Panel option. Thus, there is merely one single fact: out of more than 200k website hosting trademarks all over the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2 percent! Less than 2%, remark that one...

200k "Hosting firms", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely dubbed

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offers" Google reveals to us come down to merely one solution: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different website hosting brand names. Imagine you are only a regular bloke who's not well aware of (as the majority of us) with the website creation processes and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the individual domains and web portals. Are you prepared to make your hosting selection? Is there any web hosting alternative you can opt for? Of course there is, nowadays there are more than two hundred thousand website hosting suppliers in existence. Officially. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these more than two hundred thousand unique web hosting brands across the world will give you the very same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, branded in a different way, with the same price tags! WOW! That's how big the assortment on today's web hosting market is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all part of

Simple mathematics demonstrates that to run into a non-cPanel based web hosting company is a big stroke of luck. There is a less than one in 50 chance that a thing like that will occur! Less than 1 in fifty...

The strengths and weaknesses of the cPanel Hosting solution

Let's not be harsh with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and perhaps satisfied all website hosting business prerequisites. In short, cPanel can do the trick if you have only a single domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Downside Number One: A foolish domain name folder structure

If you have two or more domains, however, be extra cautious not to remove fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain name). The files of the add-on domains are very easy to delete on the web hosting server, since they all are set up into the root folder of the default domain, which is the quite popular public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to erase the files of the add-on domains, please. Examine for yourself how amazing cPanel's domain name folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is placed)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you becoming perplexed? We absolutely are!

Downside Number 2: The same e-mail folder setup

The mail folder configuration on the web hosting server is exactly the same as that of the domain names... Making the same error twice?!? The admin chums strongly increase their faith in God when dealing with the e-mail folders on the mail server, praying not to screw things up too fatally.

Shortcoming No.3: An absolute deficiency of domain name administration user interfaces

Do we need to bring up the entire absence of a contemporary domain administration menu - a location where you can: register/relocate/renew/park or manage domain names, edit domains' Whois information, secure the Whois details, edit/create nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "contemporary" GUI at all. That's a considerable inconvenience. An unpardonable one, we would like to add...

Inconvenience Number Four: Numerous user login places (min two, maximum three)

How about the demand for an extra login to access the invoicing, domain and tech support management platform? That's beside the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel-based Hosting firm. Sometimes, on the basis of the billing transaction system (especially devised for cPanel solely) the cPanel Hosting supplier is using, the eager customers can end up with two extra login places (1: the invoicing transaction/domain administration platform; 2: the ticket support menu), ending up with an aggregate of 3 user login places (counting cPanel).

Negative Side Number 5: 120+ hosting Control Panel departments to become familiar with... rapidly

cPanel presents to your attention more than a hundred and twenty departments inside the hosting CP. It's a fabulous idea to get to know each one of them. And you'd better pick them up swiftly... That's way too insolent on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting vendors:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one as well...
